Graduation Ceremony: Student Instructions & Guest Information
Information for Graduates

Seniors should plan to stay for the entire practice; plan on at least 2 hours.

We will go through the order of the ceremony so you know what to expect. This includes where you will be sitting on the field.

You will have an opportunity to let the teacher who is reading names for the ceremony know how to correctly pronounce your name.

At the end of practice, you will be able to pick up your diploma and two printed Graduation Programs before leaving

Graduation
Arrival time - 6:45 pm in Main Cafeteria
-
Graduates should plan to arrive at Lake Travis High School no later than one hour before the start of the ceremony; doors to the high school (cafeteria) will open at 6:45 pm, graduate candidates should be on site and checked in no later than 7:00 pm; the ceremony starts at 8:00 pm

Please bring in only necessary items (cap, gown, keys) and leave all other items with your family or locked in your car; storage for personal items is not available on campus

Go to your assigned room and check in with your Line Leader or Room Helper

Enter through the cafeteria doors

Parking at Lake Travis High School for graduates will be nearest the cafeteria in the new lot and old band lot

Leave cell phones in your car or with a family member
Dress

Must have black cap and gown that looks like everyone else’s at Lake Travis HS

Tie is optional
-
Dress pants, dress shirt, skirt and blouse, dress

Clothing: dressy but not too formal
-
Please do not wear athletic shoes, flip flops, work boots, stilettos

Shoes: dress shoes, boots, wedges, flats
-
LTHS approved cords, stoles, collars worn on outside of the gown

Cap is worn flat on your head with the tassel on the right

Decorating the cap and gown
-
Decorating the cap is allowed but must be school appropriate
-
Nothing vertical, keep as flat as possible
-
No lights, feathers, or moving parts
-
Decorating the gown is not allowed
-
If you lose your tassel or need to replace your cap, they will be available for purchase from Jostens in the main cafeteria when you arrive for graduation.
Academic Demeanor
-
Anyone under the influence of alcohol or other drugs will be asked to leave.
-
Participants will be asked to remove all unauthorized decorations/items on caps and gowns.

Participants are to remain for the entire ceremony.
-
Please do not chew gum during the ceremony.
-
Please do not bring food or drinks onto the field; water will be provided.
-
Please leave your cell phone with a family member for use after the ceremony.
-
Do not bring noise makers to the ceremony.
Information for Guests
Graduation Tickets
-
All guests over the age of two entering Cavalier Stadium must have a ticket (printed or on their phone)
-
Seven tickets were provided to each graduate. Directions on how to download the tickets were emailed to each student’s LTISD email address on April 29th.

There are no tickets for sale, and there will not be a cut-off date for students to download tickets. Therefore, school staff will not have access to any tickets that are not claimed. All participants are encouraged to download their allotted tickets and share any they are not using with families of other graduating seniors.Project Graduation also has a ticket swap on their website that you might consider donating to.

Gates open to guests at 7:00 pm; guests may enter through the stadium through either the home or visitor gates

There is a clear bag policy for Cavalier Stadium that will be enforced
-
Guests are allowed to bring one sealed unopened water bottle. Concession stands will be open to purchase additional water and/or food.

Handicap Parking
-
There are about 150 parking spots designated for anyone that had a disability placard for their car (from your own doctor) in the main parking lot, P5, which is between the stadium and the front entrance to the high school. You do not have to reserve a spot, but you will have to show the placard to the parking attendants.

There will be staff in golf carts ready to assist anyone that needs help getting from the parking lot to the stadium entrance, and there are some built in spaces in the stands (bottom row) for wheelchairs. There is also space at the top of the stadium for wheelchairs. Guests will also be asked to leave the bottom row for anyone with mobility issues.

General Parking

Parking for guests is available in all other lots (except P5) on campus as well as the Baylor, Scott, & White hospital parking; a shuttle will be available from the BSW parking to the stadium from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm and again for approximately 30 minutes after the ceremony is over.

Special Assistance Accommodations
-
There are some built in spaces in the grandstands (bottom row) for wheelchairs. There is also space at the top of the stadium for wheelchairs. Guests will also be asked to leave the bottom row empty for anyone with mobility issues.

Sign language interpreters will be in Section E and will interpret throughout the ceremony.
Photography
-
Professional photographers from Photo Texas will be onsite to take two photos of each candidate during the ceremony on stage; one with the Trustee that hands you your diploma cover and another with the Principal.

Information to order graduation photos will be emailed to you by Photo Texas within 48 hours after graduation.

Guests may take photographs at any time from their seat during the ceremony; guests are not allowed on the field before or during the ceremony.

Inclement Weather
Prior to Gates Opening at 7:00 pm:
In the event the ThorGuard weather siren is activated due to lightning in the area, guests outside Cavalier Stadium should seek immediate shelter in their personal vehicles. If personal vehicles are not available (ie, spectators arrived by LTISD/Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Lakeway shuttle), guests should seek immediate shelter in the Lake Travis High School cafeteria. Please note, the school cafeteria will only be open if lightning has been detected in the area.
After Gates Open or During Graduation:
In the event the ThorGuard weather siren is activated due to lightning in the area, graduation will be suspended until an ‘all-clear’ has been received. All guests should exit the stadium in a calm and orderly manner. The Lake Travis ISD administration and LTISD Police will be on site to assist
guests. Guests should attempt to seek immediate shelter in personal vehicles.
If your vehicle is not available or inclement weather prevents access to your vehicle:
- Guests who parked off-site may go the the Lake Travis Cavalier Activity Center or Lake Travis High School Cafeteria (enter through the main doors of LTHS). Guests in the CAC will be supported by Mr. Foreman and Dr. Mathy. Guests in the Cafeteria will be supported by Ms. Haney and Mr. Waddell.
- Guests who are in wheelchairs may go into the weight room in the Lake Travis Women's Field House. Guests will be supported by Jonathan Coates and Tracey Griffith.
- Graduates will go into the Lake Travis High School to the classroom where they lined up for graduation. Graduates will enter through the PAC doors where they will be supported by Mr. O'Donoghue and Ms. Surdy.
Once the weather is no longer a threat and the ‘all-clear’ has been received, guests may re-enter the stadium and graduation will resume.
