"FAQs"

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Can we eat in the Library?

Sorry, but NO! All edible foods, e.g. M&Ms, breakfast tacos, cereal, grapes, etc. have the potential to leave residue or trash, making the Library environment uncomfortable for Library patrons. Speaking of discomfort, Library surfaces such as tables, chairs, computer keyboards, and computer mice are not regularly disinfected. If you attempt to eat food while touching any of these surfaces in between bites, you are ingesting a fair amount of nastiness. Stay in good health and eat everything elsewhere!

2. How do we get permission to visit the Library?

This year Administration is directing the Library to accept eHall Passes as the only means of permission to visit the Library during the school day. Before school (8:15 - 8:50) is the only period of time eHall Passes are not needed. From 8:50 a.m. until 4:10 p.m. all students will need an eHall pass from a teacher to visit the Library. For lunch hour visits, please see your 2nd/6th period teacher for an eHall Pass to A Lunch, or your 3rd/7th period teacher for an eHall Pass to B or C Lunches.

3. Where can teachers bring classes to work in the Library?

Anywhere! As of Fall of 2019, the newly redesigned Library Learning Commons is a flexible learning space! The Silent Study Suite needs to remain a silent space for students to work independently, but the Seminar Space on the opposite corner can be reserved for presentations, while all other areas are available for drop-in use.

4. Can we print documents on the Library printer for free?

It depends... The first 20 pages of a master copy of a document generated for school purposes is free. If a document exceeds 20 pages, the subsequent pages are 10 cents a piece. Duplicates of the master copy are 10 cents a piece. Extraneous and unnecessary pages, and mis-formatted mistakes are also 10 cents a piece. Color copies are not available to the general student population in the Library or anywhere else on campus.

5. Is the Library open before school and during late arrival and early release off periods?

Yes! Unless we need to close for unforeseen circumstances or special schedules and early release days, we are open and accessible before school from 8:15 until first period, and after school until 4:30. Students with off periods must show their schedule to visit the Library, and students visiting during class time must have a pass from a teacher.

 6. How many books can I check out?

As many as you can safely carry! High school check-outs last for 3 weeks, and then overdue notices are automatically generated each Monday until overdue books are returned. No fines are accrued unless books are returned damaged, or not returned.

 7. How do I search the Library catalog and put books on hold?

You can search the library in a few different ways! The catalog is linked on our Library website. Additionally, you can click on the LTHS Library Learning Commons app on LT1. That will automatically log you in and allow you to put a hold on books that are currently checked out. Feel free to ask a Librarian for help.

 8. How do I join the Book Club, Guitar Club, EcoCavs Club, or Game Club?

Visit the Library and pick up a permission slip, or print one out from the Clubs webpage under the Activities tab on the LTHS website, get it signed, and turn it in at the Library.

 9. How do I change my password, unlock my computer, or re-enable my disabled computer?

Visit the Library or the Tech Depot in K100 to unlock your computer or change your password. If your computer is disabled, however, only the Tech Depot can help you from 8:30-2:30 everyday in K100.

 10. Where can I find the District Library Policies?
